Distinktive Tattoos meets and exceeds all Ontario Health Board standards: All of our staff is knowledgeable in sterilization and cross contamination prevention, and takes great care to adhere to the required practices. Brand new pre-sterilized needles are used for each tattoo. Needles are disposed of thereafter in a sharps container. All sharps are picked up regularly and incinerated by a professional medical waste disposal company. We also use only pre-sterilized disposable grips. This ensures that everything we use for the tattoo is discarded after use.
Appointments are not mandatory, we do accept walk-ins. However there is not always an artist available for walk-ins. So it is advised to call in first to make sure an artist is available. For custom tattoos, we do require you to make an appointment so that the artist has time to come up with a design and drawing.
Appointments can be made over the phone, email or in person, however we do require a 50$ deposit with every booking. If booking over the phone or email, this can be done via e-transfer to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our rates are $120 per hour. If you sit for 5 hours of more we drop it to 100$ per hour. Our studio minimum is 80$. Unfortunately, quotes cannot be given over the phone or email. We do not give hard estimates. Once we have a drawing, a size and a location we will give you a ballpark figure, at the time of the consultation appointment.
We only accept cash. There are plenty of banks and ATM’s nearby.
Yes we do cover-ups. However a consult is typically required to determine what imagery is necessary to adequately cover the old work. Be prepared to go at least 70-100% larger than the tattoo you want to cover.
Get a good night rest, eat a proper meal and drink plenty of water. The better rested, fed and hydrated you are the better your tattoo experience will be. It will also help with the healing process. Being sick, post-surgery or stressed out is not ideal.
Pain is relative. It varies from person to person and the placement of the tattoo also plays a factor. The feeling can be described as cat scratches or a sun-burn. It’s more annoying than painful. So to answer your question… yes, no, maybe.
No, we strictly do tattoos.
We recommend to not expose your tattoo for at least 1 month after getting your tattoo. The sun can cause extreme damage to your skin as well as your tattoo during the healing phase. After the 1 month period you must use at least an SPF30 on your tattoo whenever exposing it to the sun. This should be done for the first 3 months, and is even recommend for your entire life because the sun will fade your tattoo under heavy exposure.
It depends on the severity and maturity of the scar. This is judged on a case by case basis. In general a scar should be at least one year old and have healed to your skin color.
Please follow our aftercare instructions
Tattoos typically take 2 weeks to heal. However depending on the individual and the placement of the tattoo it can take longer. The skin actually can take up to 3 months to regenerate back to it’s regular self. This is why it is important to keep taking care of your tattoo after the 2 week point to ensure it heals the best possible. Precautions such as avoiding the sun and regularly moisturizing your tattoo are crucial.
Scabbing, flaking, peeling, dryness are all natural parts of the healing process. Severe scabs that are deep and thick and/or extreme redness may indicate a need to change your aftercare routine and should be addressed with your tattoo artist.
Yes touch-ups are free. We guarantee our work. Touch-ups are free for 1 year after getting your tattoo. However, if you were careless with your tattoo by not following the aftercare instructions that we provided you and as a result your tattoo did not heal properly, we are not responsible and you will be charged a fee for your touch-up session.
